Oakville's south-central area, Ward 2, has elected a new Member of Town Council, Ray Chisholm. As Mayor, on behalf of Council it was my pleasure to welcome Mr. Chisholm, after the polls closed.

All those who put themselves forward for the voters choice deserve everyone's thanks for their part in making Oakville's democracy stronger.

We will be swearing in the newest member of Oakville Council at the Council meeting on April 18 at 7 pm after a public reception in the Town Hall Atrium at 6 pm. The public is cordially invited.

To those whom the voters have trusted with elected office: let’s all dedicate ourselves to working together for what the people voted for. Tonight’s result shows that our Livable Oakville approach for controlling growth, debt, and taxes is now more than ever truly the people’s vision and the people’s plan – and why not, we created it together with huge public participation. Tonight's increase in support for our Livable Oakville plan and vision feels good.

It's all about the feeling the word gives us. We live next door to the City of Burlington, almost the same size as us. We live not far from the Town of Richmond Hill, and their population is more than ours. The City of Welland has a population of 50,000. The City of Stratford has a population of 31,000....
